        "content": "<p>Merapi volcano alert issued<\/p>\n<p>YOGYAKARTA: An alert has been issued after increased volcanic<br>\nactivity was been recorded inside Mount Merapi, one of the<br>\nworld's most active volcanoes which is located north of here, an<br>\nofficial here said.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Volcanic Technology Research and Development<br>\nStation (BPPTK) of the Volcanology Directorate in Yogyakarta, Mas<br>\nAtje Purbawinata, said that the station had increased the status<br>\nfrom \"Active Normal\" to \"Alert\" on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He said the station had recorded increasing tremors on the<br>\nsurface of Merapi's crater, a phenomenon indicating a build up of<br>\nmagma inside the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>\"The build up could cause a lava flow, which in turn could<br>\nsend hot clouds down the mountain side,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>In November 1994, hot clouds caused by a lava flow from Mount<br>\nMerapi killed 70 people.
