        "content": "<p>A forest and land fire has broken out in the Merapi Ungup-ungup\nNature Reserve area, Banyuwangi, East Java. Consequently, management has\ncompletely suspended all activities within the region.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports on Friday (4\/9\/2026), the East Java Natural\nResources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) has closed the Ijen area\neffective from 4 September 2026. The closure will remain in place until\nfurther notice.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement letter, numbered\nPG.2245\/K.2-BIDTEK\/KSA.04.01\/\u0392\/9\/2026 and signed by the Head of BBKSDA\nEast Java, Nur Patria Kurniawan, applies to all visitors and activities\nwithin the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis applies to all visitors and all activities within the Ijen\nCrater Tourism Park and Nature Reserve,\u201d explained Purwantono, Head of\nthe Regional KSDA Division 3 Jember.<\/p>\n<p>Purwantono stated that firefighting efforts are currently being\ncarried out by officers and volunteers. These efforts are being\nundertaken to ensure the fire is extinguished quickly and does not\nspread further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis involves all parties, including the TNI\/Polri, local BPBD\n(Disaster Management Agency), volunteers, tourism stakeholders, and\nother relevant elements,\u201d concluded Purwantono.<\/p>\n<p>It was previously reported that the forest and land fire occurred in\nthe Ijen mountain area on Thursday (3\/9), specifically within the Merapi\nUngup-ungup Nature Reserve area.<\/p>",
