Baturaja (ANTARA) - The Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) of\nPusar Village, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU), South Sumatra, has\ncommenced operations to boost the local economy through a cooperative\napproach based on the principles of mutual assistance and kinship.<\/p>\n
The Regent of OKU, Teddy Meilwansyah, in Baturaja on Sunday,\nexplained that the Merah Putih village cooperative is a programme for\nestablishing cooperatives designed to be implemented at the village and\nsub-district level throughout Indonesia, initiated by President Prabowo\nSubianto.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe establishment of Merah Putih village or sub-district\ncooperatives must be carried out as it aligns with the central\ngovernment\u2019s programme through coordination with the provincial\ngovernment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stated that the establishment of the Merah Putih cooperative in\nPusar Village is a strategic solution to encourage economic equality and\nimprove community welfare.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Regent expressed his appreciation and gratitude\nto President Prabowo Subianto for his attention to improving the\neconomic welfare of the community through the Merah Putih cooperative\nprogramme.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe should certainly appreciate Mr.\u00a0President Prabowo\u2019s initiative,\nwhich has given great attention to communities in remote villages by\npresenting the KDMP,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of the OKU Cooperative and SME Office, Tommy,\npreviously explained that so far, as many as 157 villages and\nsub-districts in the area have formed KDMP management bodies, reaching\n100 per cent.<\/p>\n
The KDMPs in 157 villages\/sub-districts in OKU Regency are dominated\nby the agricultural sector, food crops, and plantations, as well as\nutilising the potential of each region.<\/p>\n
The purpose of establishing the KDMP is to realise economic\nindependence and community welfare in an inclusive and sustainable\nmanner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis cooperative will become a centre for village economic\nactivities, ranging from managing affordable basic necessities to\ndistributing food,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
