        "content": "<p>The Government of the Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra, has\npartnered with Riyadh Group Indonesia (RGI) to develop an integrated\ntourism destination area spanning approximately 5,000 hectares. The\ncollaboration is directed towards building an international-standard\ntourism zone that prioritises environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of\nUnderstanding (MoU) between Mentawai Islands Regent Rinto Wardana and\nRGI President Director Bally Saputra Datuk Janosati in Jakarta on Monday\n(10\/8). Under the agreement, RGI is appointed as the master developer\nresponsible for investment, development, and marketing of the area. The\ndestination is designed with an eco-green concept that combines tourism,\nbusiness, commercial, technology, and supporting infrastructure within a\nsingle zone.<\/p>\n<p>The development also aims to open investment opportunities for\nnational and global investors from Europe, the Middle East, China, South\nKorea, and Japan. Opportunities are also open to developers affiliated\nwith Realestat Indonesia (REI).<\/p>\n<p>Regent Rinto Wardana stated that the local government is pushing for\nthe tourism zone and its infrastructure to be included as a National\nStrategic Project (PSN) and\/or designated as a Special Economic Zone\n(KEK). \"We want to push for this tourism destination area and its\nsupporting facilities to become a competitive National Strategic Project\nand\/or Special Economic Zone,\" Rinto said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the development will use an integrated ecosystem\napproach covering energy, water, transportation, tourism, and other\nsupporting sectors. Economic intelligence and artificial intelligence\n(AI) technology will also be utilised in the planning, construction, and\nmanagement of the area. Planned infrastructure includes new and\nrenewable energy (EBT) power plants, such as solar power plants (PLTS)\nand wind power plants (PLTB), along with their electricity networks. The\nzone will also be equipped with a data centre, communication networks,\nclean water processing facilities, and digital-based support\nsystems.<\/p>\n<p>In the economic sector, development is directed to include fisheries\nand marine aquaculture along with downstream industries. The\ntransportation sector will be supported by the construction and\ndevelopment of ports, fibre vessels, and an airport. The Mentawai\nIslands Regency Government will facilitate land legality aspects and\nroad infrastructure development, and has promised to ease the licensing\nprocess according to its authority. This step is expected to provide\ncertainty for investors while increasing confidence in the area\u2019s\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>RGI President Director Bally Saputra Datuk Janosati stated that as\nthe master developer, his company will prepare schemes for the purchase,\nrental, or cooperation in land utilisation for the zone\u2019s\ndevelopment.<\/p>",
