Men arrested with monkey meat<\/p>\n
JEMBER, East Java: Jember regency police foiled an attempt to
\nsmuggle monkey meat from Buleleng regency, Bali, and have
\ndeclared four people suspects.<\/p>\n
The four, who are being detained at the Temporejo Police
\nstation, have been identified as I Ketut Mika, Gusti Putu
\nSurarja, I Wayan Widana and I Wayan Werte. All are residents of
\nBuleleng regency.<\/p>\n
Temporejo Police chief Adj. Comr. Rustamo said on Tuesday the
\nfour had been arrested a day earlier in Jember with 100 kilograms
\nof monkey meat from 18 monkeys in their van.<\/p>\n
The suspects were arrested on the way from Bali to Surabaya,
\nthe capital of East Java.<\/p>\n
Police also confiscated a high-caliber air rifle, hammers and
\nthree butcher knives, said Rustamo.<\/p>\n
If found guilty, the suspects could face maximum sentences of
\nfive years' imprisonment and Rp 100 million (US$12,000) fines for
\nviolating articles 21 and 22 of the Cultural Conservation Law. --
