        "content": "<p>Melawai vendors to be relocated<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: In a bid to clean up crowded Melawai market in Blok <br>\nM, South Jakarta, and convert it into an integrated commercial <br>\ncompound, the city market operator plans to move the sidewalk <br>\nvendors to the basement of the market building.<\/p>\n<p>\"The new location is still occupied by Ramayana department <br>\nstore, which is contracted until 2007. However, as most of the <br>\nplaces are vacant, we are renegotiating the terms,\" head of <br>\nMelawai market operator Abdullah was quoted as saying by the city <br>\nadministration's news portal beritajakarta.com on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullah said his office had registered 368 vendors to occupy <br>\nthe new location which can accommodate up to 400.<\/p>\n<p>The Blok M area, with its busy bus terminal, markets and <br>\nseveral shopping malls, will be converted into a bonded zone of <br>\ntrade, business, tourism, entertainment and transportation <br>\ncenters. -- JP<\/p>",
