Indonesia\u2019s fifth president and PDIP General Chair Megawati\nSoekarnoputri received the German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ralf Beste.\nThe meeting discussed the current geopolitical situation.<\/p>\n
The meeting took place at Megawati\u2019s residence in Menteng, Jakarta,\non Friday (17\/4\/2026). Megawati was accompanied by PDIP Secretary\nGeneral Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP DPP Chairman Ahmad Basarah, and\nExecutive Director of the Megawati Institute Hilmar Farid.<\/p>\n
\u201cMrs Megawati and Ambassador Ralf Beste discussed geopolitics,\nincluding the current situation in the Middle East and the Asian-African\nConference (KAA Bandung), which will be commemorated for its 71st\nanniversary tomorrow,\u201d Hasto said.<\/p>\n
The meeting lasted approximately one hour. Upon being welcomed by\nMegawati, the German Ambassador said he had recently visited Bandung and\nseen the KAA Museum.<\/p>\n
\u201cI toured to learn more about Indonesia. I just went to Bandung and\nvisited the KAA Museum,\u201d Ambassador Ralf said.<\/p>\n
Hasto said the German Ambassador was impressed by Sukarno\u2019s role in\nmobilising the awakening of nations in Asia and Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cImpressed by the history of Bung Karno\u2019s pioneering role in the KAA.\nAccording to the German Ambassador, the thoughts and spirit of the KAA\nremain relevant,\u201d Hasto said.<\/p>\n
Hearing the German Ambassador\u2019s acknowledgement, Megawati then\nrecounted her experience accompanying Soekarno as the youngest delegate\nat the age of 14 at the 1961 Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Belgrade,\nYugoslavia. Megawati recalled the moment of sitting with national\nfigures such as Jawaharlal Nehru (India) and Gamal Abdel Nasser\n(Egypt).<\/p>\n
\u201cAt that time, I called them uncle,\u201d Megawati said with a smile.<\/p>\n
During that conference, Bung Karno requested to meet with world\nleaders and made special notes on the matters they conveyed.<\/p>\n
Basarah said Megawati gave several books of Sukarno\u2019s speeches at the\nKAA. In addition, there were also books of speeches when Bung Karno\nspoke at the United Nations with the title To Build The World A New, as\nwell as the book The Birth of Pancasila.<\/p>\n
