Megawati opens expo on Sukarno<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (Antara): President Megawati Soekarnoputri opened a
\nmonth-long painting and photographic exhibition in honor of her
\nfather, the late president Sukarno, at the Proklamasi building
\nhere on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
In her opening remarks, President Megawati spoke about her
\nfather's hobby as an artist but stopped short of evaluating him
\nas one of the country's founding fathers.<\/p>\n
"Let the people think, let them hear, read and speak about who
\nour founding father named Sukarno was," Megawati said.<\/p>\n
Speaking about Sukarno's role as an artist, Megawati said her
\nfather had close relations with most noted national and
\ninternational artists, especially painters.<\/p>\n
The President also said that since his youth, Sukarno had been
\nimpassioned with the idea of maintaining world peace.<\/p>\n
Vice President Hamzah Haz as well as Guruh and Guntur, two of
\nSukarno's sons, were also present at the event.<\/p>",
