MedcoEnergi has reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality in the\nenergy sector through the commemoration of Kartini Day 2026, packaged in\nthe Kartini Eternity Concert themed \u201cAspirations, Hopes, Dreams\u201d at\nSoehanna Hall, The Energy Jakarta, on Friday (24\/4\/2026). The event\nserved as a space for reflection that women are now not only present in\nthe energy industry but also leading within it.<\/p>\n
MedcoEnergi\u2019s Chairwoman Yani Panigoro opened the event by\nemphasising that the meaning of Kartini should not stop at annual\nceremonies. She highlighted that real change in the workplace, including\nthe energy sector, only occurs when competence and courage are given\nequal space.<\/p>\n
\u201cKartini did not ask for permission to become educated. She demanded\nthe right to become a complete human being,\u201d said Yani in her speech in\nJakarta, quoted on Monday (27\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
She added that opening spaces for women in the energy industry is not\nthe result of pity, but the fruit of capacity and consistency. According\nto her, this principle has been applied at MedcoEnergi in building a\nmore inclusive work ecosystem.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat opens the space is not pity. What opens the space is\ncompetence, courage, and not wanting to stay silent. That is Kartini.\nAnd that is what I see every day at MedcoEnergi,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Amid a global energy industry still dominated by men, MedcoEnergi\nrecords more than 20 percent of leadership positions filled by women.\nThis figure reflects organisational structural changes that are not\nmerely symbolic but systemic.<\/p>\n
This national energy company has built various supporting programmes,\nsuch as Women at Work for women\u2019s career development in technical and\nnon-technical tracks, daycare and nursery room facilities in offices and\noperational areas, as well as the Mother and Child Empowerment Home\nProgramme in the company\u2019s work areas.<\/p>\n
This change is also felt directly by field workers. VP Operations\nOffshore Medco E&P, Puti Permata, who has served nearly 22 years in\nthe energy industry, assesses that equality can no longer be seen from\ngender identity, but from resilience and integrity in working.<\/p>\n
\u201cStanding equally is not about gender. It is about resilience and\nintegrity \u2013 and that is what I live every day,\u201d said Puti while reading\nR.A. Kartini\u2019s letters in front of the invited guests.<\/p>\n
The event, attended by representatives from ministries, SKK Migas,\nPLN, Pertamina, as well as MedcoEnergi\u2019s leadership, was packaged in a\nfour-act chamber music format. Each act was opened with readings of\nKartini\u2019s letters by MedcoEnergi women who work daily in the energy\nsector.<\/p>\n
Yani Panigoro emphasised that Kartini\u2019s values are not only relevant\nto women but also to the entire work ecosystem that wants to grow\nfairly. She views inclusion not merely as a corporate programme, but as\na way of working that must live in the company\u2019s daily life.<\/p>\n
