        "content": "<p>In the midst of criticism and controversy over the impact of the MBG\nprogramme in society, many experts and public policy observers still\nbelieve that the programme\u2019s impact can be optimal.<\/p>\n<p>Professor of Political Science and Public Policy Analyst at the\nUniversity of Education Indonesia (UPI), Prof.\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Cecep Darmawan, is\nconvinced that if managed correctly, it is not impossible that the MBG\nprogramme will foster the development of the nation\u2019s young generation\nin the next 10\u201320 years.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, if it is managed with transparent managerial\ngovernance, targeted appropriately, and balanced with a holistic\neducation ecosystem, the MBG programme is believed to bring about a\nmajor transformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If our children are physically healthy due to good nutrition, and\nbalanced with strong cognition and literacy from school, Insha\u2019Allah in\nthe next 10 to 20 years, this programme will give birth to generations\nthat are good and smart,\u2019 said Prof.\u00a0Cecep in his statement on Friday,\n22 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding dynamics on social media, where MBG implementation often\nattracts sharp scrutiny and criticism, Prof.\u00a0Cecep regards this as a\nform of public oversight that is normal.<\/p>\n<p>However, he emphasised the importance of social media literacy so\nthat the public can distinguish between constructive criticism and\ninsults or hoaxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We cannot deny that field implementation will have weaknesses.\nRegard criticism as medicine. Any poorly managed aspects should be\ncorrected promptly; kitchens that do not meet standards should be\nreplaced. Do not blame the programme, but fix the implementation,\u2019 he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, he encouraged that best practices from the MBG\nkitchens of SPPG and schools that have successfully implemented MBG be\ndisseminated to counter negative narratives and serve as models for\nother regions.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.\u00a0Cecep also asserted that the public and policymakers must be\nable to separate the essence of the MBG programme\u2019s vision from the\ntechnical constraints on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A major idea to improve the nation\u2019s nutrition should not fall at\nthe wayside simply because of imperfect management,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bluntly, Prof.\u00a0Cecep offered tactical recommendations to the\ngovernment, especially if facing budgetary constraints in the early\nstages of the implementation. He suggested focusing the programme to\ntarget those who truly need it first.<\/p>",
