        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia \u2014 Dadan Hindayana, head of the National\nNutrition Agency (BGN), has stated that distribution of free nutritious\nmeal packages (MBG) has been temporarily halted during the Eid al-Fitr\n2026 recess.<\/p>\n<p>The MBG programme for schoolchildren was suspended from Friday, 13\nMarch 2026, whilst the MBG packages for pregnant women and nursing\nmothers were last distributed on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that, we will celebrate Eid al-Fitr. The Free Nutritious Meal\nprogramme will resume distribution on 31 March 2026,\u201d Dadan told\njournalists in remarks broadcast on BGN\u2019s official YouTube channel on\nTuesday, 17 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>When asked whether the temporary suspension would result in budget\nsavings for the BGN, Dadan confirmed it would.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCertainly. We will save approximately Rp5 trillion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maximising Efficiency<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Dadan confirmed that amidst the government\u2019s efforts to\nimplement budget savings in response to current global pressures, the\nBGN would contribute to these efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCertainly. During budget harmonisation meetings regarding current\nglobal phenomena and their effects on Indonesia\u2019s energy and economy, we\nare calculating how we can contribute. We must have a sense of crisis.\nWe will undertake measures that allow for efficient use of the budget,\u201d\nhe stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, we must use the budget effectively to prevent misuse. We will\nalso undertake activities to more effectively reduce expenditure,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>From the BGN\u2019s budget of Rp268 trillion, he continued, usage would be\noptimised with maximum calculation.<\/p>\n<p>The BGN is now collaborating with the Attorney General\u2019s Office to\nprevent abuse and misuse of the MBG programme implementation, including\nembezzlement and implementation that does not conform to\nregulations.<\/p>",
