Mayor upset over extra holidays<\/p>\n
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Mayor Rully Lamadjido was upset after
\nlearning that a large number of his staff failed to turn up to a
\nmonthly flag-raising ceremony yesterday -- only because they
\nextended their New Year holiday.<\/p>\n
Rully could not avoid expressing his anger before hundreds of
\nthe mayoralty's employees, saying that he would take punitive
\nmeasures against the undisciplined staff.<\/p>\n
\"We cannot tolerate them (to be absent) ... If we just let
\nthese things happen, more people will follow suit,\" Rully was
\nquoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
The young mayor said he had asked all division chiefs in his
\noffice to list the absentees, including those who went home
\nbefore working hours ended.<\/p>\n
Business activities remained dormant and many government
\noffices were quiet on the second day of the New Year here
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Government employees in the mayoralty, as well as most parts
