Mayor lifts sanctions against Concord 2000<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): East Jakarta Mayor Sudharsono has lifted the
\nadministrative penalty imposed on PT Quartalintas Sembada, the
\ndeveloper of the Concord 2000 housing complex in East Jakarta,
\nafter the company signed an agreement with the mayoralty.<\/p>\n
Sudharsono told reporters at City Hall yesterday that the
\ndeveloper had finally agreed to turn over the social and public
\nfacilities at the complex to the city administration, not to
\nanother party.<\/p>\n
\"The developer has signed an agreement to hand over various
\npublic and social facilities to the city administration within
\ntwo years,\" Sudharsono said.<\/p>\n
The agreement was signed on April 21.<\/p>\n
Sudharsono explained that the agreement was reached after his
\noffice told the developer that based on its land appropriation
\npermit it has the obligation to build public facilities in the
\nhousing complexes it constructs and to hand them over to the city
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
He added that initially there had been a misunderstanding
\nbetween the developer and Perumnas, the state-owned housing
\ndevelopment company. The private developer at first thought that
\nit was obliged to hand over the facilities to Perumnas.<\/p>\n
\"The permit declares that the company is obliged to build and
\nhand over those facilities to the city administration,\"
\nSudharsono said.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month the East Jakarta mayor penalized PT
\nQuartalintas Sembada by stopping issuance of administrative
\npermits, including the building and land appropriation
\ncertificates, to the developer.<\/p>\n
The developer, now building 200 houses on a 23 hectare plot of
\nland owned by Perumnas, has an obligation to develop social and
\npublic facilities, such as parks and school buildings on two
\nhectares of land.<\/p>\n
Sudharsono has also threatened that his office would tear down
\nthe developer's marketing office building at the real estate
\ncomplex because it was built without an official building permit.<\/p>\n
In a related development, North Jakarta Mayor Suprawito
\nyesterday denied allegations that the number of public and social
\nfacilities to be built by PT Summarecon Agung, a real estate
\ncompany based in North Jakarta, was fewer than what had
\npreviously been promised.<\/p>\n
\"It is only a misunderstanding, the company has developed 19
\nparks, from the total of 28 required, which are ready to be
\nturned over to the city,\" Suprawito told reporters at City Hall.<\/p>\n
Last week the company announced that it would hand over 19
\nparks to the city administration by Aug. 17. This was fewer than
\nthe number announced earlier by Deputy Governor for Governmental
\nAffairs Idroes.<\/p>\n
Idroes has said that the company is obliged to build and hand
\nover 28 parks by Aug.17, when the nation commemorates the 50th
\nanniversary of its independence.<\/p>\n
Suprawito made it clear that PT Summarecon had finished
\ndeveloping 19 parks. \"The parks will be soon turned over to the
\ncity administration. The remaining nine are still in process,\" he
