Mayor inaugurates Glodok Plaza<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Glodok Plaza, an electronics and computer center in
\nWest Jakarta, has reopened after undergoing renovation for a
\nnumber of years.<\/p>\n
The owner of Glodok, PT TCP Internusa, a subsidiary of
\npublicly listed PT Surya Semesta Internusa, organized the plaza's
\nsoft opening on Wednesday. West Jakarta Mayor Sarimun Hadisaputra
\ninaugurated the building.<\/p>\n
The Plaza was ransacked and set on fire by rioters during May
\nriots in 1998.<\/p>\n
Company president director Johannes Suriadjaya said Glodok
\nPlaza was no longer just a trading center, but was also a
\nbusiness information center.<\/p>\n
Through its website www.e-glodokplaza.com, people from around
\nthe world can access business information on the plaza and make
\ntransactions through the Internet.<\/p>\n
\"This is part of our efforts to make Glodok Plaza the biggest
\nelectronics and computer business center in Southeast Asia,\" said
\nJohannes as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
The shopping center also has an exhibition room, a conference
\nroom, an ATM gallery, entertainment facilities and parking spaces
\nfor 1,400 cars.<\/p>\n
Sarimun said Glodok Plaza, which stands on a 65,000-square-
\nmeter plot, would be able to employ at least 3,000 people.<\/p>",
