PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk is leveraging its global banking network to attract investors from the Middle East to undertake significant projects in Indonesia, as part of its strategy to bolster the national Islamic economy. The bank aims to position itself as a key driver of Indonesia's economy beyond niche markets, with a focus on digital-based Islamic financial projects. This initiative aligns with Maybank's preparations for spinning off its Sharia Business Unit in compliance with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations, while launching the digital platform Amanah Pro to support Hajj and Umrah financial needs and expand the Sharia ecosystem.

JAKARTA - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk, through its global banking
network, will bring in investors from the Middle East region to develop
several projects in Indonesia.

Romy H. Buchari, Director of the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) at
Maybank Indonesia, stated that as part of the Malayan Banking Berhad
(Maybank) group, the company has connectivity with an international
banking network.

This provides an advantage in attracting foreign investors to enter
the country.

“Our Global Banking team, our corporate team, is bringing in
investors based in the Middle East to carry out new projects here. So
it’s already underway. And we’re talking about major projects,” he said
during the launch of Amanah Pro in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Romy stated that this is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen
its role as a bridge for global investment while also promoting the
growth of the national Sharia economy.

“We want to be the engine or main driver for Indonesia’s economy. Not
just a niche market,” he said.

However, it is hoped that these foreign investors can be partnered
with to work on digital-based Sharia financial projects.

“I am not at liberty to mention it now, but when the time comes, we
will announce it,” Romy said.

This effort also intersects with Maybank Indonesia’s strategy to
strengthen its Sharia business, which is preparing to carry out the
separation (spin-off) of the UUS in accordance with the Financial
Services Authority (OJK) regulations.

Romy revealed that the new entity resulting from the spin-off will
rely on digital strengths to compete in the increasingly competitive
banking industry.

On this day, Maybank Indonesia has launched the Amanah Pro digital
platform to serve the financial needs of customers during Hajj and Umrah
pilgrimages.

This platform is prepared to become one of the business foundations
as well as a channel to expand the Sharia ecosystem.
",
