Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ride-hailing company Maxim Indonesia has partnered\nwith the Cheshire Foundation Indonesia to expand support for people with\ndisabilities, especially those with physical impairments, including\nthrough transport assistance and commission-free partnership\nopportunities for disabled drivers.<\/p>\n
Maxim Indonesia\u2019s Director of Development, Dirhamsyah, said during\nthe signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Cheshire\nFoundation Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday that the collaboration aims\nto promote more inclusive economic independence for people with\ndisabilities, given that their labour force participation rate remains\nbelow the national average.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough this partnership, we want to open more opportunities for\npeople with disabilities to live independently and develop their\npotential,\u201d Dirhamsyah said.<\/p>\n
As part of the collaboration, Maxim provided travel credits worth\nRp18 million to the Cheshire Foundation Indonesia to support the\nmobility of the foundation\u2019s beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe commission-free programme and social protection are our\ninvestment in creating equal opportunities amidst the development of the\ndigital economy. These partners will receive special commissions. Unlike\nregular partners who are charged commissions between 8 and 15 percent,\ndisabled partners from the Cheshire Foundation will be given a very\nsmall commission, from zero to one percent,\u201d Dirhamsyah said.<\/p>\n
During the MoU signing, Maxim also showcased vehicles that have been\nmodified to support the needs of disabled drivers, ranging from\nadjustments to the accelerator and brake pedals on four-wheeled vehicles\nto seat modifications on two-wheeled vehicles.<\/p>\n
Previously, the company also introduced several accessibility\nfeatures, such as TalkBack support for blind users, a conversation\nfeature for passengers with hearing impairments, and special\nnotifications to drivers when passengers require additional\nassistance.<\/p>\n

According to 2022 data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), there are\napproximately 22.97 million people with disabilities in Indonesia, or\nabout 8.5 percent of the total population.
