The free mudik programme organised by the Mataram City Government
(Pemkot) in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 2026 has been officially closed.
The closure was implemented due to exceptionally high public enthusiasm
for registration. Within hours of opening, the number of registrants had
exceeded 300 people.

“More than 300 have registered, but our quota is 168 people. One bus
has 42 seats,” said Zulkarwin, Head of the Mataram City Transportation
Department (Dishub), on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

“The enthusiasm is very high. The evidence is that shortly after
opening, there were already 300 people registered,” he added.

Zulkarwin explained that the over 300 registrants were predominantly
students from Mataram and other regions. Currently, the Mataram City
Transportation Department is conducting selection and verification to
align the number of registrants with available quotas.

“Yes, it is being verified and filtered. From what I can see, there
are many students because they need it most. Besides that, there are
also workers,” he explained.

For this free mudik programme, Mataram’s Dishub has prepared four
Damri bus fleets with various facilities, including full air
conditioning, television, toilets, reclining seats, GPS tracking,
luggage storage, and USB ports.

The four buses will transport 168 travellers with three destination
routes: Mataram-Sumbawa, Mataram-Dompu, and Mataram-Bima.

Komala, a Mataram resident, admitted missing out on the free mudik
programme registration as it had already closed.

“It’s already full; I registered late. I thought it was still open.
It turns out the enthusiasm was very high. I am currently trying to
register for the free mudik organised by the provincial government,” she
said.

Unlike Komala, Putri managed to secure a seat for the free mudik next
week. “Thank goodness I got one; queuing since morning was not in vain,”
she said.

For reference, participants in this free mudik programme will depart
on 16 March 2026. The bus fleet will depart from the Mataram Mayor’s
Office on Jalan Pejanggik, Mataram, East Nusa Tenggara.
",
