        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Telematics Society (Mastel) is encouraging the\ncreation of an ecosystem that involves global digital platforms, or Over\nthe Top (OTT) services, in contributing to the development of national\ndigital infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Mastel Chairman Sarwoto Atmosutarno stated that the increasing growth\nof the digital economy needs to be accompanied by a more balanced\ndistribution of roles among all digital ecosystem players. \u201cSo far, we\nhave mostly seen the benefits of the presence of global digital\nplatforms, ranging from digital economic growth, efficiency, to various\nservice innovations. However, at the same time, the need for digital\ninfrastructure investment continues to increase and is mostly still\nborne by the telecommunications industry,\u201d Sarwoto said in a statement\nreceived in Jakarta on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Sarwoto noted that this condition shows that the development of the\ndigital ecosystem can no longer be the responsibility of just one\nsector. \u201cThe involvement of all elements of the digital ecosystem is\nessential, especially since global digital platforms have been utilising\ntelecommunications networks, so they need to take part in maintaining\nthe sustainability of Indonesia\u2019s digital infrastructure development,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>He appreciated the views of Minister of Communication and Digital\nAffairs Meutya Hafid regarding the importance of retaining national\ndigital economic value domestically, including through a fair share\nscheme between global digital platforms and national infrastructure\nproviders. According to him, this idea is a strategic step to ensure\nthat digital economic growth goes hand in hand with strengthening\nnational capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the increasing need for connectivity, it must be balanced with\na more proportional contribution from all digital ecosystem players,\u201d\nSarwoto said. He also expressed support for the strengthening of digital\nplatform governance, both within the government and the House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI).<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that a number of ministries and agencies, such as the\nCoordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the\nNational Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), as well as Commission\nI, Commission VI, and Commission XI of the DPR RI, have shared views on\nthe importance of this policy. \u201cThis way, national digital\ninfrastructure development can take place sustainably and provide\ngreater benefits for Indonesia,\u201d Sarwoto said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement was made during a series of activities at the Digital\nTransformation Indonesia Conference &amp; Expo (DTI-CX) 2026, which was\nalso attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga\nHartarto, Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Nugroho\nSulistyo Budi, and Director General of Digital Ecosystem at the Ministry\nof Communication and Digital Affairs Edwin Hidayat Abdullah.<\/p>",
