The Jakarta Metro Police secured a demonstration held in front of the
National Police Headquarters on Jalan Trunojoyo, Kebayoran Lama, South
Jakarta. Security operations were conducted in a humane manner,
prioritising human rights (HAM).

Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations at Jakarta Metro Police,
stated that 3,992 personnel were deployed to oversee the demonstration.
The deployment was undertaken to ensure the action proceeded in an
orderly manner whilst maintaining conducive conditions for the broader
community, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

Budi Hermanto emphasised that the National Police Force carried out
security operations whilst prioritising a humane approach and respecting
human rights. He underscored that police officers are not only tasked
with enforcing the law, but also serve as guardians of life, builders of
civilisation, and protectors of humanity.

“Police serve as guardians of life, builders of civilisation, and
advocates for humanity. In carrying out our duties, we prioritise
service, protection, and law enforcement conducted humanely,” stated
Budi Hermanto in South Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026).

Thousands of personnel were deployed at various strategic locations,
including areas of high community activity and major traffic routes.
This placement aimed to protect the constitutional right of citizens to
express their opinions whilst avoiding disruption to public
interests.

“The right to express opinions is protected by law and we guarantee
that. However, we also encourage all parties to maintain order and not
be easily provoked,” he added.

Situational Traffic Management

The Jakarta Metro Police also prepared situational traffic
engineering and route diversion in accordance with developments on the
ground. This measure was implemented to prevent congestion that could
impact public activities, particularly during Ramadan. The public was
urged to adjust their travel routes should any diversions occur on
certain roads.

Budi Hermanto appealed to demonstration participants to express their
opinions peacefully and in an orderly manner, whilst maintaining norms,
ethics, and values of tolerance during Ramadan.

“You are welcome to express your opinions peacefully and orderly. We
will serve and oversee to ensure that all activities, both protests and
general public activities, proceed together safely and conducively,” he
concluded.
",
