The long wait for new bridge infrastructure for residents of two\nvillages in Tasikmalaya Regency has finally come to an end. Crossing\nactivities, which previously relied on rafts and simple bamboo bridges,\nhave now been replaced by a sturdy suspension bridge connecting the two\nvillages.<\/p>\n
Sinergi Foundation, in collaboration with BSI Maslahat and Perum\nPerhutani, officially handed over the Maslahat Suspension Bridge, which\nconnects Sukamenak Village in the Sukarame District with Cilolohan\nVillage in the Tanjungjaya District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, on\nFriday (19\/06\/2026).<\/p>\n
The presence of this bridge serves as a solution to the community\u2019s\nneed for safe and proper crossing facilities, which had been limited for\nmany years. For the local population, this bridge is more than just\nconnecting infrastructure; it is the lifeblood of their daily\nactivities.<\/p>\n
Before the construction of this sturdy bridge, residents had to\nnavigate various crossing methods, ranging from using rafts to bamboo\nbridges that had previously broken, and wooden plank bridges that\ndeteriorated over time. Many users had experienced accidents while\ncrossing.<\/p>\n
Iwan Setiawan, a community representative, expressed that the new\nbridge has been welcomed with gratitude and joy by the residents. Beyond\nproviding safety, the bridge has significantly transformed local\nmobility. Travel time, which previously took approximately 1.5 hours,\ncan now be completed in just 15 minutes. Access to Tasikmalaya City has\nbecome faster and easier for around 1,000 pedestrians and motorcyclists\nwho use the bridge daily.<\/p>\n
He noted that easier access will have a major impact on community\nlife. Economic activities will become smoother, agricultural products\nand home industries will be easier to market, and access to education\nfor students from primary to high school levels will be greatly\nassisted. Furthermore, residents requiring healthcare services can now\nreach medical facilities more quickly.<\/p>\n
The suspension bridge was constructed over a period of 31 days, from\n13 March to 14 April 2026. With an estimated construction lifespan of 30\nto 35 years, the bridge is designed to accommodate a maximum of 10\npeople or one two-wheeled vehicle at a time to maintain safety and\ndurability.<\/p>\n
Hadi Supriyadi, Senior Partnership at Sinergi Foundation, expressed\nappreciation to all parties involved in the bridge\u2019s construction,\nincluding BSI Maslahat, Perhutani, donors, and the community members who\nworked together from the planning and foundation stages to the\ninstallation of the slings and the inauguration.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis bridge is the result of collaboration between many parties who\nshare the same hope: to bring benefits to the community. We hope its\npresence will pave the way for economic growth, ease access to\neducation, accelerate healthcare services, and support various other\naspects of residents\u2019 lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of Perum Perhutani KPH Tasikmalaya, Danu\nPrasetyo, expressed hope that the bridge would be well-maintained and\nutilised by the community so that its benefits can be felt in the long\nterm. He also opened opportunities for further collaboration with the\nSinergi Foundation to implement similar bridge construction projects in\nremote areas that require more adequate connecting access.<\/p>\n
