Mashill holds finance workshop<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Bank Mashill will cooperate with Bank Indonesia,
\nthe central bank, in holding a series of workshops on how to
\nbenefit from the government's trade financing scheme.<\/p>\n
Bank president Dradjat Bagus Prasetyo said on Saturday that
\nthe workshops would start in Bandung, West Java, later this month
\nand move to other cities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\"The workshops are aimed as a bridge between importers and
\nbanks to hear their difficulties in using and distributing trade
\nfinancing facilities.\"<\/p>\n
He said importers, mostly producing export products, have long
\ncomplained that they were still required to deposit a huge amount
\nin local banks before they could be issued letters of credit
\n(L\/Cs), despite government guarantees of L\/Cs.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has said the government has
\nobtained US$5.77 billion in loans from international donors to
\nguarantee L\/Cs issued by local banks and to provide-export
\nfinancing facilities.<\/p>\n
But most of the trade financing facilities have not been fully
\nutilized by local banks or importers. (gis)<\/p>",
