        "content": "<p>Police have arrested a married couple who own the Wedding Organizer\n(WO) Marwah Catering in East Jakarta over allegations of fraud.<\/p>\n<p>East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal stated\nthat the couple have been formally named as suspects in an embezzlement\ncase following their arrest. Both were detained from Saturday, 30 May\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects, husband RM and wife ER, are now formal suspects,\u201d he\ntold reporters on Sunday, 31 May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are being held under Articles 492 and 486 of the Criminal Code\nconcerning fraudulent acts and embezzlement, respectively, with the\nsuspects detained since Saturday, 30 May 2026,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Alfian explained that, based on complaint desk data, 58 prospective\ncouples reported being victims of the couple\u2019s fraud. Two couples had\nalready held their weddings but did not receive the promised services,\nwhile 56 others were unable to proceed with their planned\nceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the provisional total loss from 24 verified victims\namounts to approximately Rp2,658,885,000, with the figure likely to rise\nas investigations continue with other victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects failed to fulfil their WO duties after receiving\npayments from victims. They also went missing, causing numerous reports\nand complaints. Whether they planned to flee is still under\ninvestigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The case gained attention after a couple, Aldi (32) and Feny (32),\nwent viral on social media when their wedding on 23 May at the Islamic\nCenter in Bekasi City was cancelled. They claimed to have paid Rp85.5\nmillion for the wedding package, but no vendors arrived on the day.\nPromised vendors for decoration, catering, entertainment, photography,\nand videography never materialised, forcing a simple nikah ceremony\nwithout the planned reception.<\/p>",
