        "content": "<p>Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Minister Maruarar Sirait stated\nthat a mortgage scheme (KPR) with a tenor of up to 40 years aims to make\nit easier for the public to own a home through lighter instalments.\nAccording to Maruarar, the policy is a directive from President Prabowo\nSubianto aimed at expanding public access to subsidised housing. \u201cThe\n40-year tenor is indeed a good and noble objective from President\nPrabowo, its sole purpose is so that the people find it easier, with\ncheaper instalments. That is a very good thing,\u201d Maruarar said at the\nPresidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. He explained that the\nplan to implement a 40-year mortgage has been discussed with several\nministries and agencies, including the Public Housing Savings Management\nAgency (Tapera), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Manpower, and\nthe Financial Services Authority (OJK). \u201cEveryone agrees and supports\nit,\u201d he said. Regarding implementation, Maruarar said the government is\nstill finalising a number of regulations as the legal basis for the\npolicy. He expressed hope that the process of drafting the rules would\nnot take long. Maruarar believes the longer tenor will increase public\ninterest in subsidised housing because the monthly instalment amounts\nbecome more affordable. \u201cYes, there will be more enthusiasts for\nsubsidised housing because the instalments can become lower, possibly\nbelow Rp1 million,\u201d Maruarar explained. He added that the government is\ncurrently conducting several studies before deciding on the\nimplementation timeline for the 40-year mortgage scheme. \u201cWe are\nstudying it, we are striving for the best,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
