Martha Tilaar Spa offers relaxation, healing<\/p>\n

JAKARTA (JP): Be careful when visiting spas, the popular
\nplaces for relaxation, healing and beauty. Instead of getting
\nrelaxed, healed or beautified, people may get the contrary, a
\nfatal negative impact, due to careless treatment.<\/p>\n
Most spas in Indonesia, as in other places around the world,
\noffer water or water-related treatments to their customers.
\nSometimes the so-called spas do not conduct evaluations to find
\nout the best treatments for a certain customer, as everybody
\nsuffers from different conditions, physically and emotionally.<\/p>\n
But people can enjoy the best service at the newly open Martha
\nTilaar Spa, located at Tanjung Lesung, Banten.<\/p>\n
Diany Pranata Chandra, vice general manager of Martha Beauty
\nGallery, said that the spa was run professionally, allowing
\ncustomers to undertake evaluations.<\/p>\n
\"Evaluations are very important to find out the best services
\nfor a customer,\" she said.<\/p>\n
The original meaning of spa is spring water containing
\nminerals or a site where people go to enjoy the water-healing
\nproperties. Spas have a log history, and in ancient times, people
\nwould bathe in sulfuric water, believed to be beneficial to the
\nskin and the general health.<\/p>\n
It is believed that a secret spa treatment comprising a herbal
\nand floral bath concoction was the key to exquisite human beauty.<\/p>\n
Some literature states that spas derived from a place in
\nBelgium. Here was found warm spring water, and local people named
\nit pouthouns, believing various disease could be cured here.<\/p>\n
Nowadays, many places offering treatments with water claim
\nthemselves as spas. But people use the word easily now, such as
\nday spa, destination spa, city spa, spa in a hotel, luxury spa
\nand so on.<\/p>\n
Screening<\/p>\n
In a hectic lifestyle, spas have become an effective way to
\nrestore energy and to minimize stress, maintaining both physical
\nhealth and a mental balance. It is not surprising that the number
\nof places offering spa treatments has significantly increased.<\/p>\n
Diany said that a spa, meaning sante par aqua (a place for
\ntreatment with liquid), must offer evaluations as to services
\nusing water or oil with aromatic substances.<\/p>\n
\"Some people are allergic to certain substance, therefore, the
\nvolume of each substance used in the treatment has to be very
\nprecise,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She said that there were people who could not take too much
\nlavender for their low blood pressure, while pregnant women were
\nnot allowed to take treatments with nutmeg oil in two consecutive
\nweeks.<\/p>\n
Those applying lemon oil must avoid direct sunlight, otherwise
\nthey will suffer irritations, she added.<\/p>\n
Also, she said, some people have been complaining after having
\ntreatments at spas because these places did not give evaluations
\nor interviews to find out the optimum therapy with proper doses.<\/p>\n
\"But at Martha Tilaar Spas, customers will undergo evaluations
\nto get the best services,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Diany said that there were now two spas wholly owned by Martha
\nBeauty Gallery, the service arm of Martha Tilaar Holding Company,
\nfounded by beautician Martha Tilaar.<\/p>\n
She said there were also spas in Bali, Semarang, Ciater and
\nBrunei, operating under franchising scheme with Martha Beauty
\nGallery.<\/p>\n
Aromatic<\/p>\n
Product manager of PT Tiara Permata Sari, the manufacturing
\naffiliation of Martha Tilaar Holding, Sri Sudiati, said the spas
\nused Dewi Sri Spa and Oil of Java products, which were
\nmanufactured by a company of the same holding company.<\/p>\n
She said that Dewi Sri Spa was a series of products made of
\nrice extracts to care for the body and scented with exotic oils
\nto nurture the senses.<\/p>\n
Combining health and beauty care, Dewi Sri Spa offers four
\nprograms: relief, sensual, whitening and body contour, she said.<\/p>\n
There are several varieties of Oil of Java products, including
\naromatic facial products and physical and emotion treatment
\nproducts.<\/p>\n
Facial treatments include acne oil, antiwrinkle oil and spot
\noil. Physical and emotional treatment products include relaxing
\noil, love oil, pain of relief oil and carrier oil.<\/p>\n
All of the products are created from Indonesia's valuable
\nnative plants and herbs, Sri said.<\/p>\n
Culture<\/p>\n
\"Indonesia is so rich in such plants and herbs. Since ancient
\ntimes, Indonesians have applied spa culture using traditional
\nherbs,\" Sri said.<\/p>\n
She said that Indonesia's spa culture, including beauty care
\nand bathing cultures, occurs throughout the life cycle.<\/p>\n
The two cultures, she said, were the periods of babyhood,
\nchildhood, puberty, wedding and marriage, pregnancy, postnatal
\nand lactation, menopause and final passage.<\/p>\n
In addition, massage, which is part of the body treatment at
\nspas, has also been practiced for centuries in Indonesia, she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Diany said that Martha Tilaar Spa offered hairstyling, hair
\ncare, facial care and make up, body treatments and manicures and
\npedicures.<\/p>\n
\"We are also supported by various experts, including
\nnutritionists, aromatherapists, psychiatrists and
\ndermatologists.\"<\/p>\n
She said that the newly opened Martha Tilaar Spa at Tanjung
\nLesung was also supported by a physician who worked in a clinic
\nat the complex.<\/p>\n
\"The spa at Tanjung Lesung will also offer special services in
\nsensual exercises, a kind of gymnastics for couples, as we see
\nthat many newly weds spend their honeymoon there,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She said that rates at Martha Tilaar Spa, Tanjung Lesung,
\nrange from tens of thousands of rupiah to millions of rupiah,
\ndepending on the services and kind packages required.<\/p>",
