PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) has responded to the reinstatement of\nthe operating permit for the Martabe gold mine in North Sumatra, which\nhad previously been suspended. The company is currently focusing on\ntechnical and administrative preparations before resuming normal\noperations.<\/p>\n
Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at PTAR, Katarina Siburian\nHardono, confirmed the validity of the operating permit reinstated by\nthe government. As of now, mining activities have not yet commenced, as\nthe company must complete coordination and fulfil various government\nrequirements.<\/p>\n
\u201cUntil now, we have indeed not operated; we still need to carry out\npreparations and coordination to meet the requirements,\u201d Katarina stated\nto CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (26\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Following the government\u2019s approval, the company assures compliance\nwith all regulations set by relevant agencies. It commits to\nprioritising environmental protection and occupational safety standards\nacross all operational areas of the mine.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe company welcomes the decision of the Ministry of Environment and\nForestry (KLHK) regarding approval to continue operational activities at\nthe Martabe Gold Mine. The company is currently undertaking various\nnecessary preparations and coordinating with KLHK and other relevant\nministries,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Regarding future production targets and volumes, the company stated\nit will formulate plans carefully. This approach ensures that mining\nactivities proceed responsibly and sustainably, without neglecting\nenvironmental preservation.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding production planning, we will do this carefully,\nconsidering operational readiness, environmental aspects, and compliance\nwith all applicable provisions. The company\u2019s primary priority is to\nensure mine operations run safely, responsibly, and sustainably,\u201d she\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The resumption of operations at the Martabe gold mine is also\nexpected to bring direct positive impacts on the welfare of surrounding\ncommunities. The company is optimistic about revitalising the economy\nthat was affected during the temporary suspension period.<\/p>\n

As is known, certainty for the Martabe gold mine\u2019s operations was\ngranted after the company\u2019s environmental permit was reinstated by the\nMinistry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), following its previous\nrevocation due to triggers of flooding in North Sumatra (Sumut).<\/p>\n
On another occasion, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources\nYuliot Tanjung explained that this decision was based on KLHK\u2019s\nevaluation of the environmental management conducted by the company.<\/p>\n
According to Yuliot, the evaluation results indicate that PTAR\u2019s\nenvironmental management meets the requirements for sustainable mining\npractices. Consequently, the previously imposed sanctions have been\nlifted.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the evaluation conducted by KLHK on the relevant\nenvironmental management, it meets the requirements for sustainable\nmining management, and the imposition of sanctions has been revoked,\u201d\nYuliot said to CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (26\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
With the revocation of the sanctions, the company can resume\nproduction activities in accordance with the applicable Contract of Work\n(KK) until 2042.<\/p>\n
Regarding the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB), PTAR can still carry out\nproduction according to the RKAB for the 2025-2027 period. Additionally,\nthe company can concurrently submit an RKAB for 2026.<\/p>\n
