        "content": "<p>Marriott accomplices get 3 years in prison<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The South Jakarta District Court sentenced two accomplices of the<br>\nHotel Marriott bombing on Tuesday to three years in prison<br>\nrespectively for withholding information on an act of terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding judge Ridwantoro said the prosecution had failed to<br>\nprove that defendant Slamet Widodo alias Pepeng was directly<br>\ninvolved in executing the bombing on August last year, in which<br>\n12 people were killed and 147 others injured.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, mostly Indonesians, included six drivers and a<br>\nDutch banker.<\/p>\n<p>\"The defendant is guilty of withholding information on a<br>\nplanned terrorist attack,\" the judge said in the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate trial at the same court, presiding judge Ahmad<br>\nSobari sentenced Lutfi Fadilah alias Zubair to three years in<br>\nprison, also for withholding information.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence is more lenient than the prosecutors' demand of<br>\n10 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>Both panels of judges considered the defendants' cooperative,<br>\ncourteous approaches as a mitigating factor.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors charged them with violating Government Regulation<br>\nin lieu of law (Perpu) No. 1\/2002 rectified by Law No. 13\/2003 on<br>\nterrorism.<\/p>\n<p>The law carries the maximum penalty of death.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the same court sentenced Muhammad Rais to seven<br>\nyears in prison for helping the two main suspects, who are still<br>\nat large, Dr. Azahari bin Husin and Noordin M. Top, to gather,<br>\nstore and transport the materials that caused the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>The judges also found Rais, who has six aliases, including Edi<br>\nIndra, guilty of forging an identity card to elude capture.<\/p>\n<p>The first Marriott bombing suspect convicted was Sardona<br>\nSiliwangi, who was sentenced in February to 10 years in prison by<br>\nthe Bengkulu District Court. Sardona was found guilty of storing<br>\nthe explosive materials that were later brought to Jakarta.<\/p>",
