Management of the Market Cooperative of the Klender housing
\ncomplex, on behalf of the members and other vendors in the area,
\nis questioning the statement made by Commission B of the Jakarta
\nLegislative Body. The statement, which was published in a city
\nnewspaper on Sept. 8, 1995, demanded that the construction of the
\ncomplex market be stopped for the time being.<\/p>\n
If this is true, we would like to express our deep concern and
\ndeplore the statement because it means the vendors would have to
\nkeep using the makeshift market much longer. They have been there
\nsince the market was gutted by fire in December 1993.<\/p>\n
For your information, there are about 440 vendors experiencing
\ninconvenience in the temporary building. Business is sluggish and
\nwe find it hard to improve our economy. The longer we use the
\nplace, the worse the situation becomes and ultimately we will
\nface bankruptcy.<\/p>\n
Therefore we sincerely ask the authorities to accelerate the
\nconstruction of the complex market so that we can conduct our
\nbusiness profitably.<\/p>\n
