The Indonesian Navy’s Marine Corps has explained the medical handling
procedures in the event that participants of the basic military training
(latsarmil) for prospective managers of the Merah Putih
Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP) experience health issues during
their education.

Lieutenant Colonel Agus Mutaqin, Commander of the SPPI KDMP and KNMP
Training Battalion at the 1st Marine Brigade Cilandak, stated that
participants experiencing health complaints must first report their
condition to their platoon commander.

“They report to the lower level, in this case, the Danton (Platoon
Commander). Then the Danton reports to the Danki (Company Commander),
and the Danki reports to the Danyonlat (Training Battalion Commander),”
said Agus when met at the Cilandak Marine Headquarters, South Jakarta,
on Thursday.

While the reporting process is underway, sick participants will
immediately receive medical treatment from available health facilities
within the headquarters environment.

“However, if our Health Platoon (Tonkes) or doctors are unable to
handle the situation, a nearby hospital has been prepared, namely the
Cilandlam Marine Hospital, which will immediately provide treatment,
inpatient care, and so on,” he added.

In addition to preparing medical handling mechanisms, the Marine
Corps is also implementing preventive measures to minimise the risk of
health issues during training. Participants with histories of chronic
illness or specific health conditions are not included in heavy physical
activities.

“Those with chronic histories or serious illnesses are separated at
the platoon and company levels. This ensures they are not involved in
physical field activities,” said Agus.

According to him, data regarding the participants’ health conditions
is obtained from medical examinations conducted before joining the basic
military training.

Participants with specific medical histories are then directed to
participate more in classroom-based learning activities, in accordance
with their health status.

Agus stated that, so far, the entire series of basic military
training remains safe and conducive. He expressed hope that the
educational process would proceed well so that participants could
acquire the knowledge, discipline, and national insight necessary to
manage the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives.

A total of 674 participants of the Indonesia Development Driver
Undergraduate programme (SPPI) are undergoing basic military training
for one and a half months at the Pasmar I Headquarters in Cilandak,
Jakarta. The participants are divided into four companies, with each
company consisting of six platoons.

During their education, they undergo various basic military training
materials aimed at fostering discipline, a spirit of service, and
nationalism.
",
