        "content": "<p>Manila to limit city traffic<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AP): Manila officials announced yesterday a tough new<br>\nplan to limit the number of cars on the capital's roads and<br>\nreduce its notorious traffic jams.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new plan, private vehicles will be banned three days<br>\na week from the streets of metropolitan Manila's nine cities and<br>\neight municipalities between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles with odd-numbered license plates will be banned on<br>\nMondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and even-numbered cars will<br>\nprohibited Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Violators will be<br>\nfined 300 pesos (US$11.50).<\/p>\n<p>Public transit vehicles and taxis are exempted from the ban,<br>\nwhich begins next week.<\/p>\n<p>Private vehicles will be exempted if they carry at least three<br>\npeople, including the driver.<\/p>",
