        "content": "<p>Manggarai terminal project<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): President director of PT Pembangunan Jaya,<br>\nHanafi Lauw, said the timing of the construction of the Manggarai<br>\nintegrated terminal project depended on a revision of the design.<\/p>\n<p>He said Monday revision was needed to cut construction costs,<br>\ninitially estimated at US$285 million.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Ciputra, the firm's ex-director, said the 124-<br>\nhectare project could begin this year and that 54 hectares of the<br>\nrequired plot were still privately owned.  But the city has not<br>\nreceived details of the project yet.<\/p>\n<p>Hanafi said the project would minimize land appropriation.<\/p>\n<p>The plan was first presented to President Soeharto by the<br>\nchairwoman of the project's consortium, Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana,<br>\nin 1994.<\/p>\n<p>In the plan, the small bus terminal would be turned into a<br>\nfour-story station with 22 tracks, four underground express<br>\ntrains, inter-city buses, minibuses and taxis.
