        "content": "<p>The Manggarai Regency Government in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has once\nagain extended the emergency response status for earthquakes in the\nregion. This second extension will last for 14 days, spanning from 15 to\n28 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The extension of the emergency status is stipulated in the Decree of\nthe Regent of Manggarai, Herybertus Geradus Laju Nabit, dated 14\nSeptember 2026. The Acting Regional Secretary of Manggarai Regency,\nLambertus Paput, shared a copy of the decree on Monday (14\/9\/2026)\nevening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe extension of the emergency response status is set for 14 days,\neffective from 15 September 2026 until 28 September 2026,\u201d stated\nHerybertus in the decree.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to extend the emergency status considers the ongoing and\nfluctuating aftershocks occurring in Manggarai. This situation has\nresulted in displaced persons remaining in both centralised and\nindependent evacuation posts.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the aftershocks have hindered the construction of\ntemporary shelters in several sub-districts. \u201cAdditionally, there is a\nneed for structured trauma healing assistance for affected residents,\nnecessitating appropriate and integrated follow-up handling in\naccordance with standard disaster management procedures,\u201d Herybertus\nnoted in the decree.<\/p>\n<p>It is noted that Manggarai Regency was one of the areas severely\nimpacted by the 7.7 magnitude Flores earthquake on 15 August, which was\nfollowed by a series of aftershocks. Dozens of people have died in the\nManggarai region, with the highest number of casualties located in Reo,\nReok Sub-district.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Manggarai, East Manggarai and Nagekeo regencies have\nalso previously extended their emergency response periods. Meanwhile,\nWest Manggarai and Sikka regencies have decided to end their earthquake\nemergency response status.<\/p>",
