        "content": "<p>Mandarin workers stage strike<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Nearly 300 employees from the Mandarin Oriental<br>\nJakarta hotel staged a strike yesterday over several demands that<br>\nthe management has yet to meet.<\/p>\n<p>A housewife who wanted to order a cake told The Jakarta Post<br>\nyesterday that the hotel was not taking any orders because most<br>\nof the bakery's employees were on strike.<\/p>\n<p>The strike was said to have started at 7:30 a.m. in all<br>\ndepartments of the hotel except the kitchen, which was still<br>\ncooking for the guests.<\/p>\n<p>According to an RCTI report at 6:30 p.m. yesterday, the<br>\nmorning shift employees were asking the management not to fire<br>\nhotel employees without clear justification and not to hire too<br>\nmany expatriate managers.<\/p>\n<p>The Post was unable to reach the hotel's management or public<br>\nrelations officials for comment but one of the managers who asked<br>\nto remain anonymous denied that any strike had been called.<\/p>\n<p>\"There was no strike.
