Central Lombok (ANTARA) - Extreme weather conditions in the Special
Economic Zone (KEZ) area of West Nusa Tenggara did not cause flooding at
the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit.

“Although extreme weather hit the Mandalika Circuit area, the track
conditions remained well-maintained,” said the Director General of the
Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandi Satria, in Central
Lombok, Tuesday.

Extreme weather struck the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit
area in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from Monday (23rd February) to
Tuesday (24th February). Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit the
Central Lombok area on Tuesday (24th February 2026) from morning to
afternoon.

“There was no standing water on the main track; the water that was
seen came from areas outside the circuit and flowed to the edge of the
track. The circuit’s drainage system functioned optimally in draining
water and keeping the track surface free from excessive water,” he
said.

In the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit area, rain began to
fall on Monday morning and reached its highest intensity on Tuesday at
around 10:00 am local time.

The heavy rain and strong winds lasted for about 45 minutes to an
hour and temporarily limited visibility. The extreme weather caused
flooding on several roads in Kuta Mandalika, Pujut, Central Lombok.

The circuit’s operational team immediately carried out rapid response
measures by clearing debris, using high-pressure washers and blowers at
several points, and securing circuit branding boards that were affected
by the strong winds.

“As the intensity of the rain began to subside, the process of
tidying up the circuit area was carried out thoroughly,” he said.

The Track Maintenance team began to repair and treat areas of the
track that had been affected by the high rainfall. The work focused on
the run-off area of Turn 1, the apex of Turn 2, and several water
crossing points on the track that were affected by water runoff.

In addition, the team also repaired promotional materials and ACP
materials that had been affected and blown away by the strong winds.

After the repair process, a re-inspection of the track was carried
out using a safety car to ensure that the cleanliness, tidiness, and
safety aspects of the track met operational standards.

“The Mandalika Circuit track was declared clear and safe for use, and
was immediately used for racing activities,” he said.

“We ensured that all circuit support systems, including the drainage
system and the readiness of the operational team, were in optimal
condition to face extreme weather,” he said.
",
