        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 The management of the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery\n(TMPN Utama) in Jakarta is planned to transfer from the Social Affairs\nMinistry to the Defence Ministry this year, with the operational\ntransition target set for 1 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a legal and technical perspective, the target date of 1 April\nis for the handover. However, the documentation can be transferred\nbefore April, even during the fasting month if needed,\u201d said Social\nAffairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf in a statement in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The transition process for managing the cemetery of national heroes\nwas discussed between Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf and Deputy\nDefence Minister Air Chief Marshal (Retired) Donny Ermawan Taufanto\nduring a meeting at the Social Affairs Ministry office in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Saifullah explained that during the process of transferring authority\nand formulating regulations, the Social Affairs Ministry will establish\na transition team and continue coordinating with the Defence\nMinistry.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial phase following the operational transfer, the\nSocial Affairs Ministry is ready to provide support in the form of human\nresources and maintenance financing until the Defence Ministry has its\nown budget for managing the cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the Directorate General of the Social Affairs\nMinistry, 216 national heroes are buried at Kalibata National Heroes\nCemetery, including former Indonesian President B.J. Habibie and former\nVice President Adam Malik.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery was under the Social\nAffairs Ministry based on Presidential Decree Number 13 of 1984.<\/p>\n<p>The transfer of cemetery management has been described as a directive\nfrom President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen maintenance, oversight,\nand ensure proper respect for national heroes in accordance with\nnational values.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo from 1 April, operations will already be under the Defence\nMinistry.
