Man tries to kill wife, children<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): A man tried to kill his wife and infant
\nchildren in the village of Warnakerta, Pasar Kemis district on
\nTuesday for unclear reasons.<\/p>\n
Hasanudin, known as a respected teacher of Koranic verse
\nrecital, stabbed his wife Emuy, and his two children Asep (4) and
\nNeneng (2) who were asleep at the time.<\/p>\n
Emuy tried to resist and protect her two children from the
\nattack. The commotion drew the attention of neighbors, who then
\nrushed to help save the woman and the children.<\/p>\n
Hasanudin was then overpowered by the neighbors, who turned
\nhim in to the local police.<\/p>\n
Pasar Kemis Police chief Insp. Budi Wardoyo assumed that the
\nman was suffering from a mental disorder. \"He became furious
\nseveral times during questioning. He smashed the typewriter and
\nthreatened to break the windows of the police station.\"<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Arfan, a relative of Hasanudin, said that the man
\nbecame mentally unbalanced some time ago after he began to dabble
\nin \"magical teachings\".<\/p>\n
Arfan said Hasanudin tried to burn his wife and the two
\nchildren last month, but they managed to escape. (41\/sur)<\/p>",
