Man tried for producing fake oil<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: A man went on trial before the Tangerang District
\nCourt on Thursday for producing fake lubricating oil.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Rustam Nawawi said that defendant Herman, alias
\nAfu, 35, produced the fake oil on Sept. 25 last year, and put it
\ninto empty cans and bottles bearing the names of popular oil
\nbrands such as Top-1, Formula 1, Mesran and Meditron S.<\/p>\n
Nawawi charged the defendant with violating Article 90 of Law
\nNo. 15\/2000 on Trademarks, which carried a maximum punishment of
\nfive-years imprisonment and a fine of Rp 1 billion.<\/p>\n
In another courtroom, prosecutor Puji Rahardjo read out the
\nindictment against Ichwan Indrawan, alias Ong Cing Yong, 50, who
\nwas accused of embezzling Rp 688 million belonging to the
\nemployees' cooperative of PT Hadaya Aneka Shoes Industry.<\/p>\n
The alleged crime was conducted between January 2000 and
\nNovember 2001, when the defendant was chairman of the
\ncooperative, which then had 2,700 members.<\/p>\n
The defendant could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in
\njail if found guilty.--JP<\/p>",
