Man treated for gun shot wounds<\/p>\n
LHOKSEUMAWE: A resident of Nisam district in North Aceh has
\nbeen treated in hospital for shot wounds he received on Friday.<\/p>\n
Antara reported Saturday that M. Sufi bin Syahbuddin, 41, of
\nAlue Papeun subdistrict, was shot by unidentified men riding a
\nmotorcycle at around 11:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The victim, who had not regained consciousness as of Saturday,
\nwas believed to be a member of the support operations unit of the
\nArmed Forces during the military campaign of 1989 to 1998.<\/p>\n
The civilians known as cuak have been targets of anger
\nparticularly since the operations ended last August.<\/p>\n
Local military commander Giyono said he believed two men
\napproached the victim near a foodstall.<\/p>\n
Giyono said there were witnesses but none had the courage to
\nhelp the victim as the assailants had rifles, which are yet to be
\nidentified. Giyono confirmed that many civilians had various
\nweapons, adding that victims of shootings were often former
\nmembers of the operations support team.<\/p>",
