        "content": "<p>Man sentenced for drugs possession<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): Tangerang District Court sentenced a man on<br>\nThursday to two years in jail for drug possession.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding judge Sutoto Hadi read out the verdict on 30-year-<br>\nold Sayidin, who was found guilty of possessing 1.7 grams of<br>\nmarijuana.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence was less severe than demanded by prosecutor Eka<br>\nWidiyastuti, who asked the court to sentence the defendant to two<br>\nyears and six months in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Eka said the defendant, a resident of Tangerang, was searched<br>\nby patrol police officers on Jl. Pintu Karya, near Tangerang<br>\nGeneral Hospital, on May 19.<\/p>\n<p>\"Upon searching him, police found 1.7 grams of marijuana in<br>\nhis pocket,\" said the prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>Eka charged the defendant with violating Article 78 of Law No.<br>\n22\/1997 on psychotropic substances.
