        "content": "<p>Man queried over slashing<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The city police would thoroughly question<br>\nbusinessman Johny for allegedly slashing Prayitno -- both are<br>\nresidents of Jl. Duri Utara II in West Jakarta -- with a sword in<br>\na quarrel which then led to a bigger clash.<\/p>\n<p>City police spokesman Lt. Col. Edward Aritonang said on<br>\nTuesday that the incident which occurred on late Monday was<br>\nsparked by a trivial misunderstanding between Johny and other<br>\nresidents.<\/p>\n<p>\"Johny is now under city police custody and we'll question him<br>\nthoroughly,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>As was earlier reported, the incident began at around 4:30<br>\np.m., when local youths hit Johny's Suzuki Carry minibus parked<br>\nin front of his house with a ball they were playing with.<\/p>\n<p>Johny came out of his house angrily brandishing a samurai<br>\nsword in his hand.<\/p>\n<p>After a short quarrel, Johny chased the youths and wounded 18-<br>\nyear-old Prayitno in his upper abdomen before he ran off and hid<br>\ninside his house.<\/p>\n<p>Residents got angry and surrounded Johny's house, asking for<br>\nhim to take responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>\"Somebody started shouting, 'Damage his car,' then people<br>\npelted stones and any hard objects at the car,\" a local said.<\/p>\n<p>After damaging Johny's car, residents of the neighborhood,<br>\nattacked his house but later turned on security personnel who<br>\nwere deployed to calm the incensed crowd as two armored vehicles<br>\nsuddenly stopped in front of Johny's house to evacuate him.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Johny's car, windows of two military trucks and one<br>\npatrol police car were also damaged by angry residents.<\/p>\n<p>However, the clash eased off after elderly residents asked the<br>\nyouths to stop.<\/p>\n<p>Elderly residents believed that those who provoked the attacks<br>\nwere not from their neighborhood and therefore they were staying<br>\non the alert to prevent further clashes.
