Man nabbed for robbing driver<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An ex-student of the prestigious privately-owned
\nTrisakti University has been arrested for his alleged role in
\nrobbing of at least 10 taxi drivers in and around the city.<\/p>\n
Chandra Prabowo, in his 20s, was arrested at his rented house
\non Saturday, two days after he allegedly succeeded in robbing a
\ndriver of a Steady Safe taxi on Jl. Pertambangan at Pondok Bambu,
\nEast Jakarta.<\/p>\n
According to cabbie Janner Sijabat the bogus passenger
\nrequested to be driven to an area in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Half way to the destination Chandra allegedly threatened
\nSijabat at knife point and demanded all his money.<\/p>\n
After the Sijabat had surrendered Rp 16,000 (US$7.20), Chandra
\nalighted from the taxi. Sijabat then went to a nearby police
\noffice and reported the robbery.<\/p>\n
Based on a preliminary investigation, Chandra is believed to
\nhave committed at least 10 similar violations against city taxi
\ndrivers, including an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver. (bsr)<\/p>",
