Pacitan Police in East Java have uncovered a case involving the theft\nof gold jewellery and cash worth approximately Rp350 million belonging\nto an elderly resident of Kalikuning Village, Tulakan District, with the\narrest of a suspect identified as S.<\/p>\n
Pacitan Police Chief AKBP Ayub Diponegoro Azhar said on Monday that\nbased on examination results, the suspect admitted to using the proceeds\nof his crime to play online gambling.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor slot gambling or online gambling, that is what the perpetrator\ntold us,\u201d Ayub said during a case release at Pacitan Police\nHeadquarters.<\/p>\n
The case came to light following a theft report at the home of\nMesirah (64), a resident of Mloko Hamlet, Kalikuning Village, Tulakan\nDistrict, in late July 2026.<\/p>\n
At the time of the incident, the victim had left her home to attend a\nwedding reception.<\/p>\n
Police then conducted an investigation and traced transactions\ninvolving the sale of gold jewellery believed to have come from the\ntheft until they located the suspect.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom there we swept the area, including identifying the\nperpetrator\u2019s location. Our members arrested the perpetrator in Pacitan\nRegency,\u201d Ayub said.<\/p>\n
Based on police examination results, the suspect had returned to\nKalikuning Village to visit his parents.<\/p>\n
While in his hometown, the suspect learned that the victim was\nattending a celebration, leaving the house empty.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect\u2019s initial target in entering the victim\u2019s house was to\ntake money, but he found gold jewellery and took it as well,\u201d Ayub\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Police said the suspect entered the victim\u2019s house through a bathroom\nwindow, then pried open a door and a cupboard using a crowbar found at\nthe property.<\/p>\n
From inside the cupboard, the suspect took cash and a quantity of\ngold jewellery before leaving the victim\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
The victim subsequently reported the loss of gold jewellery and cash,\nwith total losses estimated at Rp350 million.<\/p>\n
