Man held over shooting<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A 32-year-old businessman was held for
\nquestioning after he apparently foiled a robbery attempt at a
\nBank Central Asia (BCA)'s ATM booth in Pondok Indah, South
\nJakarta, by shooting dead one of the four alleged robbers who
\nthreatened him with a sickle, an officer said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
South Jakarta Police chief detective Comr. Napoleon Bonaparte
\nsaid police had detained businessman Ari Sutanto at the Pondok
\nIndah Police station because the latter was a key suspect in the
\nincident, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday
\nmorning.<\/p>\n
"He is now held, not arrested, for questioning regarding the
\nrobbery attempt and pistol ownership," Napoleon said.<\/p>\n
Quoting Ari's statement, Napoleon said the incident occurred
\nafter Ari and his girlfriend, Lisa Maria Pilly or Lisa Patsy,
\ntransferred some money from the BCA's ATM located in a shophouse
\non Jl. Pondok Indah.<\/p>\n
"While still inside the ATM booth, they were suddenly
\nsurrounded by four men, and one of them brandished a sickle at
\nthem," Napoleon told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
Instinctively, Ari pulled out his pistol and shot one of the
\nmen.<\/p>\n
"The man, identified only as KCD, died instantly," the police
\nsaid, adding that KCD was shot at least four times in his chest,
\nboth legs and shoulder.<\/p>\n
The three other men fled immediately.<\/p>\n
Ari and Lisa, a local television soap opera actress, then
\nrushed to their car and left the scene.<\/p>\n
According to Napoleon, police identified Ari a few hours later
\nas they found his ATM card in the booth.<\/p>\n
Ari admitted the pistol was his and that he had the license
