Man disrupts court session<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A man claiming to be a supporter of businessman Tomy
\nWinata disrupted the hearing of a defamation suit filed by Tomy
\nagainst senior Tempo journalist Goenawan Mohamad at the East
\nJakarta District Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Only seconds after presiding judge Zainal Abidin Sangaji
\nstarted the hearing, the man, identified as Abdul Gani,
\napproached the defense team and said the magazine had run
\nlibelous articles aimed at tarnishing the businessman's image.<\/p>\n
"Your client has done wrong to Tomy Winata. Don't you know
\nthat he had done a lot of good things to poor people," he shouted
\nat the defense team while banging on the desk.<\/p>\n
The man then turned to the panel of judges, screaming "the
\ntrial is unfair."<\/p>\n
The presiding judge called a security officer, after 10
\nminutes of the man's protest, who then forcefully led the man out
\nof the courtroom.<\/p>\n
The plaintiff's lawyer Erman Umar, who submitted evidence in
\ntoday's trial, said he did not know Gani and Tomy had nothing to
\ndo with the incident.<\/p>\n
The trial was adjourned to Oct. 29 to give the plaintiff's
\nlawyers time to complete their evidence. -- JP<\/p>",
