Man dies in blazing jeep<\/p>\n
BOGOR (JP): An apparently drunk motorist was burned to death
\nand his companion badly injured when their jeep caught fire
\nfollowing a collision with a truck early yesterday, witnesses
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The accident took place at about 2:30 a.m. in front of
\nFlamboyan discotheque.<\/p>\n
Syamsuddin, 30, was killed in the accident. His injured friend
\nwas identified as Dedy Sofian, 29.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims' speeding Suzuki Katana
\njeep struck a truck cruising in front of them.<\/p>\n
The fire resulting from the impact quickly engulfed the jeep.<\/p>\n
Bystanders coming to the rescue managed to pull Dedy out of
\nthe vehicle but were unable to save Syamsuddin who reportedly
\ntrapped in the wreckage.<\/p>\n
\"The accident would have been unlikely had the driver not been
\ndrunk because the street was quiet,\" an eyewitness said.<\/p>\n
Police refused to comment on the accident, saying they would
\nhold an investigation.<\/p>\n
Police are questioning the truck driver, identified as Ence,
\nabout the accident, Antara reported. (pan)<\/p>",
