Man detained for killing father<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An officer said the Cipayung Police arrested a
\nsecondhand goods vendor on Tuesday morning for killing his father
\nduring a family dispute.<\/p>\n
East Jakarta Police chief of detectives Capt. Agus Irianto
\nsaid police arrested 35-year-old Saun bin Anja for murdering his
\nfather, 70-year-old Anja bin Bentong, in front of Anja's house in
\nKampung Munjul, Cipayung district, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"Saun admitted to killing Anja, a father of nine, because he
\ncould no longer stand the treatment he received from Anja, who
\nrepeatedly scolded him.<\/p>\n
\"During questioning, Saun told police he did not mean to kill
\nhis father, but only to teach him a lesson,\" Agus said.<\/p>\n
He said Saun, who is the victim's eldest son, earned his
\nliving by collecting and selling used goods which he kept in his
\nfather's house. Anja, apparently displeased with Saun's job,
\nrepeatedly threw the used goods out of his house.<\/p>\n
\"His father's actions angered Saun and the two were involved
\nin heated arguments daily,\" he said.<\/p>\n
At approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Saun took a fork-shaped
\ndigging tool and hit Anja three times in the head while the two
\nwere in the garden. Anja suffered two deep cuts to his head.<\/p>\n
Agus said the victim fell and died on the scene, at which
\npoint Saun fled.<\/p>\n
\"He was seen running away in a panic by a neighbor, Cecep, who
\nlives near the murder scene.<\/p>\n
\"Based on Cecep's statement, police searched for Saun for
\nquestioning. He was found at 8 a.m. today (Tuesday) in the
\nneighborhood,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Separately, Ibrahim, Saun's brother, said at Cipto
\nMangunkusumo General Hospital's morgue that he was told by a
\nneighbor to check on a \"suspicious\" object in the yard in front
\nof Anja's house.<\/p>\n
\"At first, I thought it was one of the statues collected by
\nSaun, but then I recognized it as my father's sarong. I found out
\nlater that he was already dead,\" Ibrahim said. (06)<\/p>",
