Man burgles restaurant<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A thief broke into a restaurant in Senayan in
\nCentral Jakarta Saturday and stole Rp 1.5 million (US$630) in
\ncash, a facsimile machine and a telephone.<\/p>\n
Sgt. Supratman of the Central Jakarta Police precinct said the
\nthief entered the Pondok Laguna restaurant through a ventilation
\nduct in the bathroom in the early morning.<\/p>\n
"The thief then entered the restaurant manager's office and
\nstole the money from a safety box," Supratman said.<\/p>\n
He said the thief also stole the facsimile machine and the
\ntelephone from the manager's room. "The thief then escaped the
\nsame way."<\/p>\n
The restaurant's security guard found a mess in the manager's
\noffice when he opened the restaurant in the morning.<\/p>\n
"The security guard saw the safety box was open and the
\ntelephone and the facsimile machine were missing," said
\nSupratman.<\/p>\n
The security guard then reported the theft to Tanah Abang
\nPolice subprecinct, he said.<\/p>\n
According to Supratman, the police presume the thief was
\nsomeone who knew the restaurant well. (jun)<\/p>",
