Man beaten to death by crowd<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A man was beaten to death by residents of Selang
\nTengah, Bekasi, for allegedly stealing electronic appliances,
\nBekasi police said on Friday.<\/p>\n
The man, Guntur, 30, was caught by Tatang, a resident of
\nSelang Tengah, stealing a VCD player, television, speakers and
\nclothes from a neighbor's house, Second Brig. Harun told Antara.<\/p>\n
After being confronted by Tatang, Guntur dropped the items and
\nbegan to run. Tatang immediately alerted other residents, who
\nstarted chasing Guntur.<\/p>\n
When he failed to give an adequate explanation to the
\nresidents, they began punching him and assaulting him with
\nvarious weapons.<\/p>\n
He was killed when one of the mob stabbed him in the stomach.<\/p>\n
The case is being processed at the Bekasi sector police
\nstation, while the man's body undergoes an examination at the
\nKramat Jati police hospital in East Jakarta. --JP<\/p>",
