Man beaten for stealing car<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A man was beaten by a mob for trying to steal a
\ncar in the parking lot of the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Tawu (35), also known as Oki, was caught by a security guard
\nin the act of trying to break open the door of a jeep owned by a
\ndoctor, at noon. The doctor's car was parked in front of the
\nEijkman Molecular Biology Institute, in the hospital compound.<\/p>\n
According to Japar, the security guard, he and several other
\nguards had been watching the suspect, who came with three
\nfriends.<\/p>\n
\"They acted suspiciously, so I followed one of them to make
\nsure they couldn't do any harm,\" Japar said.<\/p>\n
\"The man was trying to break open the car door with this T-
\nshape key,\" he said, giving evidence to the police.<\/p>\n
Unconscious, Tawu was yesterday in intensive care. The guards
\nhad tied him to the bed to stop him escaping. (05)<\/p>",
