        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have\nsuccessfully thwarted a large-scale cannabis distribution operation,\nseizing a total of nearly 19 kilogrammes of cannabis from a man in West\nJakarta on Thursday evening, 19 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The breakthrough began with a tip from members of the public\nregarding suspected narcotics activity in the Duri Kepa area of Kebon\nJeruk. The information was promptly acted upon by Unit II of\nSub-directorate II under the Narcotics Directorate.<\/p>\n<p>A team led by Police Commissioner Tri, head of Unit II\nSub-directorate II, moved swiftly to conduct a field investigation. At\napproximately 7.30 pm local time, officers apprehended a man identified\nby the initials AG (39) in the car park of an Alfamart convenience store\non Jalan Kebon Raya II, Duri Kepa, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday, 19 February 2026, our team from Unit II Sub-directorate\nII of the Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police\nsecured the suspect AG in the Puri area of West Jakarta, along with\nevidence of approximately 10 kilogrammes,\u201d said Commissioner Tri, as\nquoted on Saturday, 21 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Officers found one large package containing 10 neatly wrapped bundles\nof cannabis on the suspect. However, the discovery did not end there.\nDuring initial questioning, AG admitted to storing additional cannabis\nat another location. Police subsequently conducted a follow-up operation\nat an empty house on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara.<\/p>\n<p>At approximately 8.50 pm, officers uncovered further evidence\ncomprising one sack containing eight packets of cannabis, one cardboard\nbox of cannabis, and various supporting paraphernalia including\nscissors, a box cutter, adhesive tape, and used plastic packaging. The\ntotal quantity of cannabis seized amounted to 18,829 grammes, or nearly\n19 kilogrammes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe then developed the case further in the Tanjung Duren area of West\nJakarta, where we found an additional approximately 8 kilogrammes of\ncannabis, bringing the total from suspect AG to 18 kilogrammes,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect and all evidence have been secured at the offices of the\nNarcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further\nexamination. Police are continuing to investigate the possible\ninvolvement of a wider network in the cannabis distribution\noperation.<\/p>",
