Man arrested for phone battery scam<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested a man for allegedly
\nproducing and selling fake branded mobile phone batteries in
\nCentral Jakarta, an officer said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Chief of the Central Jakarta Police Lt. Col. Iman Harjatna
\nidentified the suspect as Oei Antony, 32, a resident of Jl.
\nKartini Raya.<\/p>\n
Antony was arrested last Thursday when police also confiscated
\nhundreds of batteries bearing brandnames of Nokia, Motorola,
\nEricsson and Samsung.<\/p>\n
\"Earlier on May 27, we received information from an anonymous
\ncaller who said that a man, identified as Antony, committed the
\ncrimes,\" Iman said.<\/p>\n
Plainclothes police were deployed to check on the tip.<\/p>\n
Antony has two residences on Jl. Kartini Raya. One is his
\nshop-house and the other was allegedly used as a factory for
\nassembling the batteries from used ones.<\/p>\n
Antony reportedly employed 34 people to make the fake
\nbatteries.<\/p>\n
During preliminary questioning, Antony admitted he ran the
\nbusiness for a year because he lacked funds to import genuine
